Why join the BSGA
The BSGA is a pro-active organisation working on a continual basis across a number of key initiatives and member services. In addition to the marketing advantages membership provides, members have access to and a voice in the services provided by the Association. These include:
Technical Guidelines
The definitive guide to designing, manufacturing and installing signs in the UK. The guidelines, created over a number of years and updated and added to on a continual basis, are an essential tool for any serious signmaker. Members have automatic access to all the guides.
Through its technical committee and its online Ask an Expert facility, the BSGA will also help members solve technical problems.

Education
The BSGA continues to lead the way in promoting formal education and training in the sign industry. The aim is to improve the skills base within the industry and to help provide people working in the industry with recognised qualifications and the potential of a clearly defined career path.

Representation
The BSGA maintains a constant monitor on legislative matters, both in the UK and in Europe, which may affect the sign industry and, where necessary lobbies on behalf of the industry and represents its interests. Currently, the BSGA is involved in monitoring Local Plans with regard to the effect they may have on signs and is objecting to these where it is thought conditions are unreasonable.
The BSGA is also the ONLY trade association to have represented the interests of sign makers and sign installers with regard to CSCS cards and has been involved in protracted negotiations with the CITB.

In addition to Local Plan monitoring the BSGA is able to provide access to advice and assistance to members who have planning problems and queries,
Services
Legal help and advice with all aspects of business law is available to members at advantageous rates
Insurance a unique insurance programme, designed to met the needs is sign makers is available to members. The scheme is run by a dedicated help team and is available at competitive rates.
Power a scheme is help ensure that members get the best deal available to them for gas and electricity. Some members have already reduced annual bills by up to 20%.
Networking opportunities
The association is involved in the organisation of a number of events each years that are designed to provide opportunities for networking with suppliers, sign buyers and other sign makers. The annual Sign Industry Awards is a typical example where up to 400 meet for the sign industrys night of the year.
Communications
The BSGA communicates with all members and the industry at large regularly through its newsletter (posted directly to members and distributed to 7000 other sign makers, sign buyers and influencers via Sign Directions magazine) a new email newsletter and via the columns of a cross section of trade media.
Marketing
The BSGAs primary marketing tool is this website. Recently updated and upgraded the site provides a sign maker search facility where sign buyers can find all members of the BSGA and can determine those with specific skills and facilities or within specific geographic regions. It also provides facilities for signmakers to source the materials and equipment they need to complete a project. New features on the site also include a signmakers forum where you can debate online, any subject close to your heart, and a guide for sign buyers, covering both the type of sign
The BSGA website will in future feature as a sponsored link on Google, the worlds most used web search engine. This will ensure that the BSGA site will be one of the first found by web browsers when they are looking for anything to do with signmaking
