The sign and vehicle livery specialist was employed by the North Kesteven District Council (NKDC) to manage the branding and signage for Blackwood Court, which is the latest addition to the 87ha Teal Park site, home to engineering giant Siemens.
The local authority has invested £2 million in the new development which consists of 19 workshop units, ranging in size from 500 sq ft to 2,000 sq ft, which are aimed at small start-up businesses.
Glen Merryweather from Allen Signs said: “Following a competitive pitch we were appointed by NKDC to work on the design concepts for the signage while Blackwood Court was still in the planning stage. Our in-house graphic designer developed some creative ideas which we presented to the client.
“Once construction work on site got under way we revised our initial concepts to ensure that the design and materials used reflected the style of the buildings as well as the name. We’ve really enjoyed being involved in the project from the early stages and following it through to completion.”
All but two of the units have already been let at Blackwood Court. Five units were let on completion of the site in February, with another five following soon after. Applications and strong interest has been received in another seven as well.
The development has attracted interest from a range of businesses from engineering, joinery through to a photographic studio, with a mix of new start-ups, relocating and expanding businesses.

“Our £2m investment in Blackwood Court is critical within a range of measures to boost business opportunities within the thriving LN6 economic growth area of North Kesteven and with that in mind it is satisfying to be able to place our confidence in Allen Signs as one of the success stories within LN6. We are really pleased with the work they have carried out.”
