JUDGEMENT DAY FOR 2014 AWARDS

“Now the date for the judging is set, we are in a position to extend the deadline for receipt of entries,” said Ray Hirst, Awards Co-ordinator.  “The judging will take place later than we originally planned owing to prior commitments so we are able to extend the closing date by a further three weeks to September 22.”

The judges of the sign maker categories in this year’s awards have also been announced.  They will include :

Mike Wolff . Chairman of the Sign Design Society.  Mike spent almost his entire working life in the airport industry where he developed a passion of signing.  He worked on major projects at Heathrow, including T5, and six other airports.

Val Hirst.  Editor of Sign Directions Magazine.  Val, a previous recipient of the BSGA Special Achievement Award,  has been involved in the sign industry for well over 25 years and has been a keen observer of the ever-increasing creative and technological capabilities of sign makers.

Steve Lister.  Sustainability Guru.  Previously with Gerber Scientific Instruments and the Robert Horne Group, Steve now runs his own business providing some of the UK’s biggest retailers with advice and consultancy services on sustainable concepts and designs for everything from signage to POP and POS.

David Dyke.  Managing Director of Subcon Design.  David’s working life started in aviation design but changed to sign making when he joined Omega Signs as their Technical Director in 2003.  He now provides engineering design consultancy services to sign businesses throughout the UK.

Andrew Evans. Academy Manager, Walsall College. Walsall is acknowledged  as a centre of excellence  for sign industry training and offers a range of courses from NVQ Diplomas to Advanced Apprecticeships.  Andrew has been a major driving force in keeping the courses at the college at the cutting edge of signmaking.
