With just one week to until its 30th anniversary show, Sign & Digital UK has today announced the latest exhibitor news, product launches and competitions set to be showcased at this year’s event.

Returning to the NEC Birmingham from 28-30 March 2017, the leading exhibition will again act as the launch pad for a range of new technologies and machinery aimed at the visual communications sector.

The show will see innovative products and services from more than 180 suppliers, with hundreds of brands being showcased.

Here is a preview of the many product launches and prize giveaways you can expect to see at this year’s event.

Product launches

AG/CAD (D20)

AG/CAD will launch the new X9 Digital Cutter, one of the most advanced and competitive digital cutters available.

Antalis (C20)

Antalis will have an American diner theme with almost everything, from the walls through to the floor and even light shades, constructed from materials that feature within Antalis’ range of visual communications media.

In addition, the business will be launching its new hardware partnerships exclusively at the show. Customers can now benefit from being able to purchase from leading hardware manufacturers, complemented by Antalis’ wide range of roll and rigid media and supported by independent training from the Antalis Digital Academy.

APA (K60)

APA is a leading specialist in advertising, graphics and decoration, and will launch an exclusive new product, including a new wrapping film, featuring a variety of colours and special effects. They will also showcase the APA Digital Print line that offers customised and printable films with any type of graphics. Also available on their stand is a thermo-weldable film for fabrics, offering simple cutting, and removal from the liner and application.

AXYZ (F20)

AXYZ will demonstrate its latest Trident hybrid CNC routing and knife-cutting print finishing system. This powerful production workhorse combines routing and cutting capabilities in a single machine, thereby removing the need for print finishing specialists to invest in two separate machines to carry out these functions.

Biesse Group UK (B30)

Biesse Group will demonstrate their new CNC Router dedicated to the sign industry. This machine has been designed to meet the needs of the worldwide market, with a higher level of precision and speed. The result is a machine that is best in class for accuracy and durability from one of the world’s largest manufacturers of CNC Routers.

Blackman and White (G10)

Blackman & White, the leading UK manufacturer of large format flatbed cutters for the sign and display industry, will be demonstrating limitless options for packaging and display using its Versa-Tech laser/router/knife cutter together with its own workflow software – Tiger Pack™ at Sign & Digital UK.

Canon (H10)

Don’t miss the first UK showing of the ground-breaking Canon UVgel applications from the Océ Colorado 1640. Visit Canon’s stand to discover the innovation that promises to transform roll to roll printing, by delivering outstanding quality and colour faster, and at a lower cost than any previous process.

Canon will also be demonstrating the Arizona 2280GT – its first showing at a UK print show. Attendees will be able to experience live demonstrations on the Arizona 318 GLW system along with artistic and imaginative capabilities delivered by Canon’s wide format printers, including the ColorWave 700 and the imagePROGRAF PRO-4000 models.

Castle Tapes Holding (E54)

Castle Tapes Holding will have two new products at this year’s event. The 3M VHB GPH bonding tape series, a general purpose product that solves the challenges of temperature resistance and multi material bonding. Also available is the Tesa tesa® ACXplus 709 series LSE double-sided Acrylic foam tape

Colourgen (E40)

Colourgen will be at Sign & Digital UK for the 17th year running, this year presenting new Mutoh large format sign and display printers and solutions. Also on the stand will be laminators from Kala, a broad range of media products and software solutions from Caldera and Sai.

New at the show will be the Mutoh ValueJet 1638UH (64”). This is Mutoh’s first ever dual head LED UV printer delivering increased print, cure performance and versatility. Accommodating roll media and rigid boards with a CMYK ink set-up, the VJ-1638UH can also print white and varnish to handle transparent or coloured substrates without losing saturation, or to create special print effects and multi-layer printing for added value.

DATAPLOT (H52)

Dataplot will introduce the current range of EMBLEM inkjet media for large format inkjet printers. This includes a full range of adhesive vinyl, different films, paper, textile, canvas, PVC-banner, photopaper, blueback and whiteback paper, poster paper and further specialities for POS and textile finishing.

Graphic Dealers Ltd (G30)

Graphic Dealers Ltd will have a 3D Printer on their stand at Sign & Digital UK. It will be in action at the show with live demonstrations.

Graphtec GB (D50)

Graphtec will demonstrate the new FCX2000 series of flatbed plotter/cutters. They are available in three sizes (920 x 610, 920 x 1,200 and 920 x 1,800mm) and a choice of either a vacuum suction or electrostatic material hold-down facility, with the former being more suitable for heavier and thicker materials and the latter better suited to the processing of lighter-weight media.

Graphics Printing Technologies (GPT) (E20)

GTP returns for its 9th consecutive year at Sign & Digital UK. Once again GPT will have a 90sqm stand and will have four key ‘Zones’, including Mimaki, HP, Finishing and Media Applications. In the Mimaki Zone, GPT will be presenting the latest Mimaki solvent and UV-Cure printers, including the JFX, JV150/300 and CJV 150/300 ranges. The HP Zone will have the very latest HP Latex 365 Printer and HP Scitex Flatbed as well as other new products. GPT will also have a Media Applications Zone focusing on the comprehensive range of solution provided by Intercoat and GPT’s other media partners. These include products for signage, murals, windows and vehicles as well as a range of protective laminate films.

Hybrid Services Ltd (E10)

Hybrid Services, Mimaki’s UK and Irish distributor, will be hosting the new Mimaki JFX200-2531 LED UV flatbed printer for its UK and Irish debut.

The Mimaki JFX200-2531 large flatbed UV-curable inkjet printer is a recent development of the JFX200 series, which brings compatibility with media up to 2.5 x 3.1 metres, accommodating rigid signs, wall decorations, doors and other big items.

Also seeing its first outing at Sign & Digital UK is the Mimaki Tx300P-1800 direct to textile printer.  As capable at producing fashion or furnishings as it is soft signage, the brand new 1.8m printer can run multiple inksets, opening up a vast array of applications on manmade or natural fabrics.

InkTec (J20)

InkTec will host the worldwide launch of the JETRIX LXi8 LED-UV Flatbed Printer. The LXi8 will be running at top speeds of over 200sqm per hour and has a host of new features, including InkTec’s latest generation LED-UV ink.

Industrial Tooling Corporation (E50)

Industrial Tooling Corporation will be introducing a host of new products to the UK signmaking industry, including the Vitreo coated tools for machining challenging ACM materials. Visitors will have the opportunity to discuss the new Vitreo coated tools with industry experts who will direct customers through the challenges of difficult to cut materials.

Innova Solutions (H62)

Innova Solutions will have the Innova ‘strong man’ to test their products to their limits; Mark Felix – 11 time World’s Strongest Man competitor, will be the face of Innova Solutions’ high strength structural bonding range. Innova Solutions’ structural adhesives and bonding tapes have been formulated to offer the same level of outstanding grip strength and holding power. Innova will also have three products on their stand – High Temperature NovaBond Tape – XS110HT, High Temperature Adhesive – NovaWeld Flex 3HT, NovaBond LSE 80 – Low Suface Energy double sided bonding tape

Josero (F40)

Josero will be showcasing the Bubble Free Mouse – a mini version of the Bubble Free Pro Applicator. It’s a piece of kit that’s ideal for clients that haven’t got much space or are working on a low budget. Perfect for sign makers specialised in making estate agent boards.

Leopold (G40)

Leopold have teamed up with Standing Stone to showcase the HP PageWide 8000XL with an inline Fotoba FHS42 cutting solution. All HP media is compatible with the cutting system.

Lion Picture Framing (R36)

Lion Picture Framing will displaying a number of their popular products, including the 30mm wooden panel tray in black and silver, white and matt black, which is 100% FSC certified. New to the aluminium panel tray ranges are the M430 41mm in satin silver and white, and matt black, and the AP92 profiles in matt silver, white and black – these are ideal for framing 1-2mm thick panels such as ChromaLuxe™. They will have on show an exciting range of finishes for framing panels and artwork printed direct to media. This includes both wooden and aluminium tray profiles, as well as stretcher frames and profiles for canvases.

Neschen Supplies (H60)

Neschen, founded in 1889, has been a leader in bringing media suitable for HP Latex printer to market. The Neschen stand will have a special focus on point of sales and retail graphics in the best tradition of the local British shopkeeper. There will be Ginger Cake for visitors as well!

NovaDura Limited (H62)

NovaDura will be launching a new product – PrimaDura Glow. After many years of research, development and testing NovaDura have launched the only anti-vandal and anti-graffiti photoluminescent signage to satisfy the demanding requirements of S1085: Issue A4: 2016 for Fire Safety Performance of Materials in Rail Stations and Tunnels Infrastructure.

Oshino LED Lighting (G42)

Oshino will introduce a new product the Super Orbis LED Gen3

If you use LED modules to back light large scale signs, sign and media light boxes, then you are likely to have heard of Super Orbis LED. Well known in the signs trade as the first super wide angle lighting module able to light 1sq metre of sign with just 4-modules and 10Watts of power, Super Orbis is now in its third generation. It’s their brightest (up to 311lms), most efficient (up to 175lm/W) module ever and now with a superior light distribution thanks to its new optical PC lens.

Photo USA Electronic Graphic (H45)

Photo USA Electronic Graphic will be launching the “Rotator”, a super small oven for sublimation printing, and an expandable printing tool for a range of substrate, such as plates, small shots and shooters, vase and non-regular size mugs and other items. They will have product demonstrations twice a day and will be giving away printing mugs on their stand.

printMAX (K10)

printMAX a leading dual Mimaki and Roland reseller, will be presenting a selection of award winning and best-selling wide format print equipment.

These include Roland’s SG-540 and VG-640, the latest in Roland’s print and cut machines, along with VersaUV LEF-300 and Roland’s newly realised LEF-200, both flatbeds offering a wealth of opportunity in the promotional printing market. They will also be showcasing Mimaki’s new UJF Mk2 UV-LED printer, designed to print on almost any substrate, the latest addition to the UJF Family.

PowerPax (R54)

PowerPax, one of the largest power conversion specialists in Europe, will be showing their new range of LED strip lighting and LED Modules, as well as their extended range of ultra slim 12vdc and 24vdc constant voltage drivers which carry a warranty up to five years and meet latest safety and efficiency legislation. The new super thin LED drivers are available as both standard and waterproof options.

Roland DG (H30)

The latest Roland DG technology will be available on the stand, including the TrueVIS series of printer/cutters; including the TrueVIS VG-640 & the SG-300, both demonstrating the future of print and cut.

The award-winning TrueVIS VG-640 boasts new printheads that deliver beautiful prints, plus vibrant TrueVIS INK offers a wide colour gamut in a choice of three print configurations: CMYK(x2) – Dual CMYK for maximum productivity, CMYKLcLmLk – Light Cyan, Light Magenta & Light Black for fine details & smooth gradations & CMYKLcLmLk+W – White ink allows for enhanced printing on dark or clear substrates.

Sign Elite (A32)

Sign Elite will be introducing ‘Print Insure Plus’, a new product launched in 2017 that caters for people in the print sector. Most print policies are designed for manufacturing at premises and do not extend to cover installation or the related liabilities and cover extensions that are needed. Under this new specialist product, printers will have the wide print insurance cover they need, but can also pick and choose additional covers including installation, height and heat work.

Soyang Europe (C60)

Soyang will launch a new materials collection to the sign and graphics market, as the company continues to target the wide format sector. The new consolidated collections include Print, Self-Adhesive, Décor and Textile.

SENFA, the Alsace, France-based Technical Textiles division of the Chargeurs Group, will also be showcasing its Decoprint fabric on UK distributor Soyang Europe’s stand. (C60)

Swanline will have multiple product launches at this year’s show, including the  Cygnus Gecko, a new ‘permanently re-positionable’ self-adhesive vinyl solution.

Other products on their stand include the Cygnus Outdoor Display, a world-leading, environmentally friendly display board that is resistant to water and moisture, making it an ideal solution for all temporary exterior signage applications and for use indoors where moisture or humidity is an issue.

Think Ambient will introduce their new ZTAC-TOUCH, a high performance, low-tack film graphic that can stick to a wide range of smooth indoor surfaces, including glass, metal and polished stone. It has an advanced coating which enables easy to apply, bubble-free installation that can be repositioned and reused. ZTAC-TOUCH is perfect for window graphics as it can be applied bubble free and remains completely removable, repositionable and damage free

Trotec Laser (K40)

TroTec will showcase its large format SP2000 laser cutter for the first time in the UK at Sign & Digital UK. Visitors to the exhibition at the NEC on 28-30 March 2017 will be able to see first hand how the SP2000, with its 1680 x 2510 mm working area, can process acrylics, wood and textiles for the signage, display and digital print industries.

Vivid Laminating (F42)

Vivid Laminating will be launching their new brand of luxury foil consumables ‘Aqua Aura’. The product range is named after the Aqua Aura quartz and gold crystal, which gives iridescent rainbow-coloured flashes, perfect for the multiple colours of foils they offer. Vivid will also feature its Easymount Air wide format laminating system at the show, winner of Wide-Format & Signage magazine’s Top Product award for 2016 and recently nominated for their Readers’ Choice award for 2017.

  • Signwaves(J60) are inviting visitors to take a turn on their indoor putting mat, with a number of high value prizes up for grabs. For the person who can pot the most balls in a minute, the wining prize will be a Canon EOS 1300D DSLR Camera with 18-55mm lens.
  • Sign Elite (A32) will be holding a competition where visitors need to answer a quiz question to win a beer stack, which will contain Real Ale or Lager. There will be 24 bottles up for grab.
