THE LONG TERM VIEW ON SHORT TERM QUALITY

Short term applications for promotional graphics are often a story of cut corners, indifferent results and premature failure of the job in question. The alternative viewpoint though turns to quality delivered over the short term so promoting clients’ brands in the light they deserve and maintaining quality reputations.

Stuart Curtis, Director of Curtis Signs, based in Braintree, puts strong service-led ethics and quality at the centre of his business. Among the company’s specialisations is property promotion graphics often announcing the availability of prestigious premises. There, a need to favourably halo the premises in question, requires nothing less than a quality approach.

Whybrow, one of Curtis Signs’ clients in the property sector, itself recently refreshed its brand. Cutting through street-level clutter and getting noticed was a key requirement and it was accomplished by using a dominant colour in the brand’s design as proposed by Curtis Signs. The team used the BSGA Member Roland’s Colour Library to help its client specify just the right shade of reproducible blue and the colour is now used on all of its property boards and graphics.

One of the properties represented by Whybrow was recently subject to promotion under the new brand design. Its location along a primary traffic route mandated a large printed graphic applied to the building’s lower glazed elevations.

Stuart and the Curtis Signs team turned to BSGA Member Metamark MD3-A to produce the graphics. This material is part of the Metamark MD-Class portfolio and is engineered to deliver premium quality results in short term applications. The material partners well with the Roland SP540 Curtis Signs used and delivers very high fidelity when used as a component of the Roland Colour Library. The flawlessly printed graphic with its large expanses of blue is laminated with Metamark’s matched matt MetaGuard material.

Despite the size of the graphic application is flawless too. MD3-A MetaScape adhesive and Curtis Signs’ application expertise didn’t give trapped air a chance. The team also liked the material’s benign handling as it allows repositioning before building to an ultimate bond that can later be cleanly removed.

The applied graphic discharges its duty to the client brilliantly. Despite the short term need, quality positively radiates. It’s completely in keeping with the prestigious bearing of the property it promotes and reflects an attitude to quality on the part of Curtis Signs that keeps its demanding clients returning for more of the company’s distinctive work.
