Roland DG to Host Worldwide Competition for its Service Engineers

In a company where customer service and support, under the RolandCare umbrella, is paramount, the competition offers even more chances to show why RolandCare engineers are widely considered the best in the industry. With initial rounds of the competition held in each territory, 449 certified Service Engineers competed for the chance to attend the final leg of challenges in Japan, the home of Roland DG Corporation. 21 exemplary finalists across the world were then selected for the final competition.

For Roland DG UK, the winner of the local competition was Phil Livesey, who fought off the competition to win first place using skills honed through ten years of engineering experience on Large Format Printers. Phil says: “It was absolutely fantastic to win the local competition, and I can’t wait to find out what I’m up against at the global event; Roland DG offers such a full program of training and certification for their engineers worldwide that I know it’s going to be tough.”

The format of the Global SE Awards will consist of three challenges taking place over two days, including replacing inkjet heads in the company’s wide format inkjet printers, repairing broken machines, and taking a comprehensive written exam that tests participants’ knowledge of maintenance services. On the third day finalists will attend an awards ceremony, during which the 2015 World Champion will be announced.

Says Mark Jones, Head of Technical Services for Roland DG UK; “We couldn’t be more proud of all of the Accredited Roland Engineers who took part in the competition; it just goes to show the incredibly high standards RolandCare engineers hold themselves to, and how much they can achieve. Phil is an asset to Roland DG UK and we’re looking forward to cheering him on for the final stretch of the competition.”
