Some things just keep getting better and better

Roland DG has launched its new and improved 64-inch wide high-speed production printer, the VersaEXPRESS RF-640 which prints at speeds up to 48.5 square metres per hour. With a wide range of new features and enhancements, the RF-640 demonstrates that, once again, Roland has set a new standard for performance and value. Priced at only £9,999, the package also includes a free take-up system.

“Digital sign makers and wide format printers need affordable volume production solutions that will help them increase productivity and profits. The new RF-640 is the ideal production tool because it delivers high speed, outstanding print-quality, ease of use, simple maintenance and unsurpassed reliability. All this whilst keeping operating costs low. That translates into increased output, satisfied customers and increased return on investment,” said Rob Goleniowski, Sign and Graphics Business Manager., Roland DG.

The RF-640 boasts a raft of new features and enhancements. Making its technology debut as a new feature on the RF-640, the new Roland Printer Assist*1 iPad app allows the remote management of printer functions. With this intuitive new app, operators can monitor printer status, manage jobs and cleaning functions comfortably from an iPad*2 for maximum convenience and efficiency. The new Roland Ink Switching System further increases productivity by supporting unattended continuous printing. This unique system allows users to load a backup cartridge that automatically discharges ink to the printer when the primary cartridge is empty.

Additional features for increased ease of use and convenience include new media loading levers positioned in both the front and back, and special media brackets that support even the heaviest media rolls as they are loaded into place.

The RF-640 prints beautiful, saturated colour with virtually no banding – even at higher speeds. A mirrored CMYKKYMC gold-plated print head firing seven different droplet sizes ensures stunning graphic results on a wide range of media at speeds up to 48.5 square metres per hour. Roland Intelligent Pass Control further enhances image quality by minimising any trace of bleeding and ensuring precise media feeding between passes.

Specially designed to take advantage of Roland’s high density GREENGUARD Gold certified low-VOC ECO-SOL MAX2 inks, and combined with new optimised profiles will deliver vivid, rich colours with ink savings of up to 20%*3 when compared to previous models. Furthermore, an automated cleaning function minimises ink usage and prolongs print head life.

Workflow and output are further enhanced by Roland’s user-friendly VersaWorks RIP® software included in the price of the printer. VersaWorks includes media profiles, nesting, cropping, predictive ink and media usage and other powerful production tools. It also features the built-in Roland Color System and PANTONE® libraries for easy and accurate spot colour matching.
