R. A. Jubb Signs was founded in 1963 by Ron Jubb, a second generation signwriter, and became incorporated in 1966 shortly before purchasing their current premises at Bentley Road. The company offer a full service from site survey and planning, through to design, manufacture and installation.

Despite a background traditional signwriting, Jubb Signs have kept pace with technology. Production control is fully computerised, using a custom built system, designed to meet the unique needs of the business. The system has gone through many stages of development since it was first installed in the mid 70s and now controls everything from job records, to accounts and payroll.

Jubb Signs were one of the first firms to embrace the vinyl plotter revolution of the early 80s, with the purchase of a Gerber Graphix 4 (costing £8000!). Today the company boasts an array of plotters, digital printers, engravers and CNC routers.

The present Managing Director, Lenard Jubb, joined the business in the mid 80s after leaving college and his expertise in IT has proved invaluable to the company.

Ron Jubb believes that the changes in the sign industry have been more far reaching than in any other, having gone from the hand lettering and apprenticeships of his early days, to the current use of high tech equipment; where almost anyone can, for a modest investment, gain entry to the trade. He also commented, ‘at least the BSGA have a vetting procedure, involving a site visit that is effective in weeding out the 'cowboys' that seem to plague the industry.’
