Energy Price Trends
The continuing economic growth of many businesses in the UK is under threat according to Energy Watch, the gas and electricity watchdog. Energy Watch has also warned that the expansion plans of many UK businesses are being put in jeopardy by inefficient energy distribution companies who are unable, or unwilling, to co-ordinate new energy supply connections to suit the demands of business customers.
The other threat to economic growth and business profitability comes from unexpected price increases. Recently, the high cost of oil has had an effect on the cost of oil generated electricity and many users have been advised of domestic and business price increases. Shown opposite is a graph which details the way in which electricity prices have shown an upward trend over the past 2 years.
Environmental Energy, an Associate member of BSGA, is the Associations independent energy broker who will find you the best deal and advise you on how to reduce your ongoing energy costs. Please remember that your existing suppliers may not be offering you the best deal in the open market for the purchase of your electricity or gas. Our advice to members has always been to shop around for alternative quotations.
This can be a time consuming business and the most effective way of dealing with this at no cost to you is to provide the BSGA with copies of invoices for the last 2 quarters submitted by your present energy supplier. BSGA and Environmental Energy will then search the market place on your behalf and make recommendations. It may be that savings cannot be identified but at least you will know you are getting the best possible deal. Alternatively, we may well be able to identify savings, as we have for many members, which can vary between £50 a year and £5,400 a year. A significant saving!!
