Harrisons have been long standing members of the Association for many years and June has played an extremely active part in Association activities as a member of the BSGA Council and its Public Relations Committee. The Association is delighted to welcome her as a President for a two year term and look forward to further developments in Association activities and member benefits which will evolve during her term of office said Mr Ian Turner, out-going President. BSGA members include sign makers of every type and size from craftsman sign writers through traditional sign businesses, specialising in architectural and illuminated signs and fascias, to the new generation of high tech companies involved in vinyl and large format digital graphics. There are also membership categories for other businesses associated with sign making including suppliers of materials, equipment and services, sign designers and installation businesses.
THE ASSOCIATIONS MANDATE IS TO:
Support and represent members interests at every level
Promote and encourage high quality standards in both workmanship and customer support.
Gain recognition for BSGA members with sign buyers and specifiers.
A number of wide ranging initiatives are driven to support the mandate including technical guidelines, information and assistance, especially in the areas of planning, legal & marketing campaigns, members meetings and the all important focus of education and training. Of particular interest this year is the on-going development of the e-learning facility which is being developed to train new entrants to the industry. This new initiative will have a major impact on staff training in the future. One of the new Presidents first duties was to announce the winner of the BSGA sponsored Special Achievement Award at the Sign IndustryAwards dinner held at the Centennial Centre, Birmingham. The award, which is intended to recognise the contribution made to the industry by either a person or an organisation, was awarded to the founders of Signs Express as the first franchise sign business in the UK. At the same time and against stiff competition, Harrisons Signs were short-listed in the Digital Sign of the Year category sponsored by Roland.
