Sign Industry Awards 2005 - Small is beautiful

The 2005 Sign Industry Awards were the biggest yet with over 150 individual entries but they were marked by the success of some of the UK’s small and medium-sized signmakers.

The 2005 Sign Industry Awards were the biggest yet with over 150 individual entries but they were marked by the success of some of the UK’s small and medium-sized signmakers – particularly Kettering-based Sign of the Times, a company with just 21 staff, who scooped both the Sign of the Year and the Interior Sign Awards for their beautifully crafted reception signage and display for Radstone Technology.

Also worthy of special mention are Graffiti Design International, who won the Small Signmaker Award outright and were highly commended in two other categories, Vinyline for their stunning storefront for Selfridges in Manchester and Dynamic Digital Imaging for their Easy Jet building wrap. Of course, the big boys also made their mark with Merson, Active, Gee Tee and Ashleigh up there amongst the winners.

The Sign Industry Awards is, without doubt, the sign industry event of the year. This year an audience of
over 320 watched the awards being presented at The Centennial Centre in Birmingham – and when dinner and the formal proceedings were over they all enjoyed a great party.

We would like to offer our congratulations to all winners and those who were commended by the judges. However, special mention should be made of BSGA members who achieved the following……

• Merson Signs Ltd. for Commercial Sign of the Year
• Rachel Richardson of Hull ITeC College who received the Sign Student of the Year award
• David Corbett and Frank Eliel, Founders of Signs Express Ltd., who received the BSGA’s Special Achievement Award…
