BSGA APPOINTS NEW DIRECTOR
The British Sign and Graphics Association, the UK’s principal trade organisation for the sign and associated industries, has announced the appointment of David Catanach as its Director of Operations. He replaces Albert Baxter, who retired from the post at the end of June.
With over 23 years experience working in the sign industry, David is already well known to a many signmakers, specifiers and end users. His career in the industry started in 1987 with his appointment as Area Consultant and then Sales Manager for a market leading aluminium sign system. In 2000, following a series of senior appointments with a number of sign-related businesses, he joined Spandex as Business Manager for its Signs Systems Division, a position he held for nine years.
He now plans to use his experience of the sign industry and as a business manager to drive the BSGA forward.
“The BSGA has a vital role to play in the modern sign industry, representing the views of its members and delivering the services they need,” he said. “I have always had face to face contact with customers and I don’t plan to change this approach with the BSGA. My aim is to meet as many members as possible to find out what they expect from the Association and then to do everything possible to deliver their requirements.
“We will be building on initiatives that are already in place, such as the BSGA web site and Member’s benefits as well as continuing to look after the industry’s interests in areas such as education and training, technical guides, planning and legislation. However, we will also be looking to introduce new initiatives and services that will benefit the membership,” he said.
Ian Drinkwater, President of the BSGA, said the Council was delighted that David had accepted the post. “He brings a huge amount of experience and knowledge of the sign industry to the post and has a pro-active approach to business that we are sure will be of benefit to both the Association and its members.”
