Bon Courage from The European Sign Federation
The European Sign Federation (ESF) is the organisation that represents the whole of the sign industry in Europe. Its members consist of representatives from national sign associations from individual countries. The BSGA represents the UK.
The ESFs latest Board meeting in Vilnius, capital city of Lithuania, was attended by representatives from 12 countries, including the Czech Republic as an observer. The Federation is also in discussions with three other national associations with a view to them joining and increasing representation throughout Europe.
ESF President, JP Rousseau, reported that the Federation has attended two exhibitions in Istanbul and Paris during the Autumn. Both were very successful. Other matters discussed and approved at the Board meeting included further expansion of the federation website with the potential for partners and suppliers to book banner advertising on the site and the development of an ESF Congress to promote the sign industry.

Members also discussed contacts with different organisations, via the Technical Working Group, to discuss solutions to light pollution and energy efficiency. One of our main goals is to create a high profile for the Federation, especially in this period of world economic uncertainty, when we have to defend very strongly the interests of our members, said Mr Rousseau.
We are working this way so that, at the end of the actual crisis, the industry will be in a better position.
As we say in France BON COURAGE during this difficult period.
The next Board meeting of the ESF will be held in May, 2009.
