To the victors the spoils….all the winners of the 2004 Awards.

It was the biggest and best social event in the history of the British Sign Industry. Over 250 sign industry stalwarts – sign makers, materials and equipment suppliers and the media – gathered in the Terrace Bar at Birmingham’s Botanical Gardens for pre-dinner cocktails - and were then invited to take their seats for dinner in the sumptuous Garden Suite.

They were welcomed by music from the Little Big Band, who played jazz standards throughout the excellent four-course meal, and by Saxon Tylney, Liz Warlock and David Oakley who cruised the tables during dinner amusing and amazing the diners with feats of close-up magic.

As coffee was served Sue Beardsmore, a presenter with the BBC, took to the stage to introduce the formal element of the night’s proceeding – the presentation of the awards to the winners.

The stage setting – thanks to the help of B&P Light Brigade – was magnificent, with the trophies for the winners, hand-crafted by Mr Ray Walker. from Perspex Fluorescent acrylic, as the centerpiece.

Toby Heppenstall, Sales Development Manager for Perspex, the main sponsor for the event, opened this section of the event and just over 45 minutes later, after the presentation of a total of 21 awards, a delighted Ian Turner, President of the British Sign and Graphics Association, brought the formal presentations to a close.

And then the party really started….the Little Big Band got in to full swing, every body got gambling chips to the value of "£2000" and roulette wheel started to spin and the dice rolled.

The bar closed at 1.00a.m. and the celebrations were still going on….

It really was a night to remember.
