An illuminating contract win at UK’s most famous artisan yogurt producer

Distinctive illuminated signage is lighting up the entrance to the UK’s most famous artisan yogurt producer thanks to Preston’s leading signage firm.

Signs Express was awarded the contract to create new signage at Ann Forshaw’s Alston Dairy in Longridge, near Preston.

The Red Scar based signage firm’s talented team of designers created 10 new aluminium signs with LED lighting and acrylic edges to allow for illumination.

The results can now be seen at the entrance to the dairy on the B6243 Preston Road and also on the dairy buildings.

Tom Smith, who designed and installed the signage, said: “Creating a sign with a glowing green edge was something that I had never seen before.

“Making that happen over such a large sign proved a challenge, but the final result is stunning.

“It certainly catches the eye – and gives a green glow over Longridge at night.”

Ann Forshaw is a £3 million turnover business whose products are stocked in most major UK supermarkets, including Waitrose and Booth’s, as well as being used as a prime ingredient by top hotels and restaurants across the country.

Emma Coupe, development director at Alston Dairy, said: “The signage was part of an ongoing development project we have been undertaking to increase our capacity capabilities.

“We found the process of designing to installation of the signs very easy, with the whole team at Signs Express very willing to help with any queries we had.

“We would highly recommend them and wouldn’t use anyone else for any future signage and graphics work.

“We have had so many lovely comments about the new signs and we are extremely pleased with them.”

Signs Express has previously successfully provided eye-catching graphic for Ann Forshaw’s vehicle fleet and other external signs around the Lancashire dairy farm.

The firm carries out repeat work for hospital trusts, schools and colleges across Lancashire, local authorities, universities and manufacturers.

Signs Express and its 15-strong workforce based in Rough Hey Road, Preston, designs, produces and installs a full range of signage for its growing client base and is owned and run by father and son team Stephen and Ben Hall.

As well as external and internal signs, the company also creates vehicle and window graphics and has seen a growing demand for its bespoke digital wallpaper. All its work, from design to manufacture, is carried out ‘in house’.

Signs Express’ growing client list has seen annual turnover grow above £800,000. Ben Hall said: “Our design department is using the latest software to create powerful messages. We pride ourselves that we are more than just a sign company.

“We’ve got graphics and fabrication workshops that are also equipped with the latest technology. It means we can produce all aspects of sign work, including illuminated, tactile and braille signs.

“It’s a very competitive market out there, but the advantage we have is being able to take on work of all sizes and to successfully project manage them.”
