The British Sign Awards return to find the best sign projects of the last twelve months.
Now in their fourth year under the auspices of the BSGA (British Sign and Graphics Association), the British Sign Awards have grown to become one of the major events in the sign industry calendar.
The awards were launched by the BSGA, the independent trade association that represents and fights for the interests of the UK industry, to shine a light on British Sign Makers and to provide a showcase for the ‘Best of British’.
This year awards will be presented in 15 categories, representing the full spectrum of work undertaken by sign businesses today, from signs produced using traditional crafts, through those using the latest digital technology, materials, and illumination, to giant signs that creatively combine precision and heavy engineering.
The awards are free to enter and are open to all UK-based sign businesses To ensure a level playing field for all, judging is by an independent panel of industry experts. They shortlist three entries in each category and the eventual winner of each award is unveiled at a gala presentation event.
This year there is a change to the norm in that the BSGA has joined forces with The Sign Design Society (SDS) to organise the Wayfinding Award. Wayfinding is the special interest of the SDS and, in addition to promoting the award, the SDS will convene an expert judging panel to draw up a shortlist of entrants and select the eventual winner.
The winners of the British Sign Awards are unveiled at a gala presentation ceremony that will take place during the day on Thursday, November 9th, 2017.
This year the awards move to a new location – the Athena Events Centre which is located in the heart of Leicester’s cultural quarter. The venue, an art deco style building specially converted to host events, is fabulously equipped to allow the staging of a memorable awards presentation.
