Making a Statement with the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo

Signs Express (Falkirk) has had the honour of being a part of the 2017 Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo by providing signs and graphics for the annual event.

The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo annually attracts an audience over three and a half weeks of more than 220,000 people from over 48 countries, in addition to the television audience of over 100 million people worldwide. The event showcases the talents of musicians and performers from militaries around the globe and it all takes place on the Esplanade of Edinburgh Castle. This year, visitors to the event will be treated to signage by Signs Express (Falkirk).

The team at Signs Express (Falkirk) used high access equipment to wrap a high-level portacabin construction in graphics that celebrates100 years of aircraft carrier aviation. Steve McMurray, owner of Signs Express (Falkirk) stated, “It is such a great honour to be a part of such an extraordinary celebration that is now ingrained in Edinburgh’s culture. We sincerely hope that everyone who visits the Tattoo has an amazing time, just as we did when helping out preparing for the event.”

The relationship between Signs Express (Falkirk) and the Tattoo was established by Marketing and Communications Agency, Williams Lea Tag, who work closely with the Ministry of Defence and the Signs Express network, bringing together the two to complete this important project.

Captain McGinley of the Royal Navy Headquarters in Scotland, stated, “2017 is the Royal Navy’s Lead Year at the Tattoo and it coincides with the Centenary of the first ever landing of a plane on the deck of a moving ship, performed by Squadron Commander Edwin Dunning in Scapa Flow. That daring achievement was the start of aircraft carrier operations and that is the theme we’re celebrating. The large graphics which Signs Express placed high above the entrance to the esplanade really helps to sell that theme and we worked very closely with Steve and his team to achieve the desired effect, even making some modifications on their recommendation. They’ve been a very professional organisation and we’re incredibly grateful for their efforts which involved some very late nights and working on a tight timescale.I would be very happy to work with them again on a project.”

The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo is taking place over the course of the 4th to the 26th August and tickets are still on sale online here: https://www.edintattoo.co.uk/tickets/performance-dates-and-times
